Casee and I go back a long way. Before we had our own families, jobs, and a whole multitude of new experiences and memories, we were teenagers in matching uniforms on a cheerleading team for our small town. We were in Casee's basement, watching Hercules and I was eating all of the snacks in her home, quite possible costing her Mom a fortune. Now, it’s Casee’s turn to be that mom with the empty pantry.

Before Casee and her husband Nick had their daughter, got married, or even engaged, we took some photos on her grandparents farm, with the same quilt that has been in their family for 6 generations now. As their daughter laid on the patchwork, curls splayed and glowing, I couldn’t help but think how amazing it was that so many little kids before her probably did the exact same thing. I watched as Casee and Nick pushed Wavelyn on the swings and hope that these photos reflected what I saw looking through the lens, two loving and amazing parents raising a happy, bold, and wicked smart little girl.

I loved walking around their yard and seeing the bits of magic in their every day lives sprinkled around. Cute pumpkins that were specially picked, a well loved playset, and special blankets and gifts. At home family photos are truly the best, especially with kids. Wavelyn got to be herself and explore and show me the photos she wanted to take, she even took a few herself. I truly love traveling from my home in Grand Rapids, to wherever in Michigan yours might be to be able to give you an outside look at how amazing your place in the world that you call home, really is.
